I am using bash 1.12 compiled with kernel 99pl10 and letest gcc. It sure
didn't complain about me deleting the directory though. As for hard
rebooting machines, try 'sync' followed by the BRS.
What I epereince is that e2fsck moans about the directory and its links,
and puts the directory into lost+found. If you then try and elete it from
there, the kernel outputs a message about some numbers on the inode not
quite adding up, but does delete it. A further e2fsck clears the problem.
The sequence of events has happened to me twice (unintentionally) now - I
reall ywish there was a way of getting out of lockups - perhaps some sort
of monitor mode.
