Thanks to the good people who are developing the Always IN-2000 driver i
now have a working .99pl10 boot disk. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with
the 0.98 root disk which i have seen on all the sites. When i log in (with
any of the standard logins -- install, root, demo, etc.) there is a bunch of
floppy access and then nothing. pressing ^C a bunch of times eventually gets
me back to the into screen and login prompt, but nothing i do will get me a
shell or the install script.
I have reason to believe that there might be a problem with the pl10 kernel
and the .98 root disk. here is why:
1) the pl4 boot disk and the .98 root disk (the combo on tsx-11) works fine.
2) when i built a pl10 kernel at a friend's house *without* the always driver
i got the same symptoms.
3) when another guy built me a pl10 kernel *with* the always driver i got the
symptoms described above.
so i don't know enough about linux to figure out what's wrong (yet!). is it
a shared lib version conflict, perhaps? can someone tell me how to get a
root disk that will work with a pl10 kernel? (perhaps there is a script that
builds root disks?) or maybe there's something i left out of the kernel both
times. thanks to anyone who can help.
