Subject: X w/ more than 8bit ?

Some persons told me that running X with a graphic card which supports
more than 8bit color does NOT work !
I run X with a Speedstar HiColor and am wondering if I could use the 15 bit
features of it ! I think that the Sierra RamDac is well-designed and
documented enough to make a new X-kernel/driver!

Any Idea(s) ?
