Sounds like you didn't reconfigure the IRQ as well. You can use any free
IRQ, INCLUDING 2, which I elaborated upon in our little chat on IRC, whereby
you do NOT compile the kernel to sense at 2, but at 9 instead as 2 is the
cascade interrupt. I do have a soundcard, a noname generic SoundBlaster
knockoff and an EV-811 with either the Everex QIC-02 unit or an Archive
5945L-2, both of which are 60 meggers, and all works fine. In fact, I've
even recorded something off the sound card and wrote it STRAIGT TO THE TAPE!
The guy at Archive (actually Maynard; anyway, he told me I didn't have a chance
in hell of getting this to work!) was flabergasted, to say the least.

My sound card uses DMA1 like most generic mono SoundBlasters do, and I've got
my EV811 set up for IRQ2 (sensed at IRQ9) and DMA3 and this thing has saved my
ass several times already. And I myself do use both the soundcard AND the
tape simultaneously, sometimes with each other.
