Hi, Steve,

I installed Linux using a 14" display. I didn't feel
very comfortable, and couldn't decide if i prefer
800x600, which fits the monitor, or 1024x768, wich
would be better for X.

I don't know why, but X seems to 'eat up' lots of room
on the screen, so I really was surprised, how much
things got better, when I bought a 17" display.

I switched to 1024x768, which now fits both, X and the
monitor. I reduced the font size and so i really got
that workstation - feeling. Even on a ET 4000 graphics
card, it is fast enough on a 486/33 ISA machine.

I highly recommend the use of a large monitor for X.
