I've been through the FAQ up, down, and sideways and found nothing that (I
thought) could help me, so here goes:

I'm trying to install Linux (SLS 1.02, 0.99.9) on a friend's 80486 Local Bus
machine. He has a Logitech BUS mouse that refuses to work with Xfree86 1.2.
When the computer boots up, it says "Logitech bus mouse detected and
installed" (or something to that effect), but when I put the line

mouse "/dev/mouse"

into Xconfig, with /dev/mouse symlinked to /dev/bmouselogitec, X comes up
with no mouse action. The X stays fixed in the centre of the screen. I've
heard rumours of their being two versions of the mouse, and that one requires
that something be done so that it always thinks that it's a Microsoft
mouse... Is this correct? Could someone please direct me to a fix for this
problem?

Thanks in advance,
Rob
