I guess I should have elaborated a little. When I had the ev811 on
dma3, I did have the kernel compiled to reflect this. Also, the
tape did perform every function fine (reset, rewind, etc.) on dma3,
but it would freeze up as soon as it started trying to transfer data.
One other person reported the same problem with dma3. After trying
some dos software (egads), I found the same problem. So, it doesn't
seem like a linux problem after all. But, under dos, I have no
problems with both the tape and soundcard on dma1, as long as I
don't try to use both at once. Under linux, I don't have that luxury,
as the soundcard driver complains about a dma error.
