Hi Netters,
Please help me.. I'm trying to set up X386 for a multisync monitor and a
TVGA9000 video card. The TVGA9000 is supposedly supported by X, and I've tried
to get things working by following the docs closely (i.e, by using the
spreadsheets modegen and by placing the resulting values in Xconfig). However,
I can't seem to get Xwindows up and running.
The symptoms are the following:
For a 640x480 mode (yes.. I know, I can do better, but gotta start somewhere)
X comes up using only a part of the screen, about 1/3 of the screen is left
blank.
In the area which is used by X, there are 4 displays overlapping -- i.e., 4
mouse cursors, 4 Xterm windows, etc.
What I *did* solve so far is the frequencies; i.e., my display does no longer
`roll'.
The question is the following: Has anyone encountered these symptoms, with
*any* video card? I suppose that this problem may be similar on a lot of
cards, it's a question of the right values in xconfig.. If you have seen a
similar problem: what to do about it? Select a higher/lower refresh frequency,
don't trust the documentation on the video card, what?
Baffled -
Karel.
PS: Also a word of thanx to those who replied to my posting about dosemu and
mounted dos partitions.. think I solved that problem.
