I use mgetty which has a sendfax-command.

It allows users to login from the outside, takes faxes and puts them
into /usr/spool/fax and mails you that you got one, and you can send
out faxes which you have converted to g3-format with gs (ghostscript).

Anything I can convert to postscript I can fax away.

tiger.ps looks real good :-)
