I just installed Linux a couple of days ago. Everything was working fine.
I installed SLS 1.01 from the install disks via my 3.5" drive.
I had MDIR and MCOPY working. I copied some DOS floppies to linux with them.
Couple days later, after experimenting and fooling around with linux, I noticed
I could no longer access my floppy via MDIR A:. I get the following messages:
floppy I/O error
dev 0200, sector 0
Reset-floppy called
VFS: Disk change detected on device 2/0
floppy: unexpected interupt
floppy I/O error
dev 0200, sector 0
Reset-floppy called
floppy: unexpected interupt
mdir: Cannot initialize `A:'
I've tried many different DOS disks and get the above messages everytime.
My /etc/mtools file has not changed during this time. It looks like this:
A /dev/fd0 12 0 0 0
System info:
Impulse 486SLC33 Notebook
6meg RAM, 120meg HD (only 1 partition for Linux, nothing for DOS)
Install package: SLS 1.01 disk series a,b,c
Filesystem: ext2
I've tried to boot MS-DOS from a floppy but haven't had any luck. I have LILO
installed and it takes me directly into Linux, even if I have a DOS system disk
in drive A:. I tried to add a DOS option to LILO. I changed my
/etc/lilo/config file to:
boot = /dev/hda
install = /etc/lilo/boot.b
delay = 100
image = /Image
label = linux
root = /dev/hda1
vga=normal
other = /dev/fd0
label = dos
I run 'lilo -v' and get:
LILO version 0.10
Written by Werner Almesberger
Reading boot sector from /dev/hda
Merging with /etc/lilo/boot.b
Boot image: /Image
Added linux
Boot other: /dev/fd0, loader /etc/lilo/chain.b
floppy I/O error
dev 0200, sector 0
Reset-floppy called
floppy: unexpected interupt
geo_query_dev FDGETPRM (dev 0x200): No such device
No such device? Grrr. When I boot Linux, it says fd0 is 1.44M.
How can I get access to my floppy again?
