From: yang@duke.edu (Joe Yang) Subject: Hard disk repartition Date: 14 Jun 1993 04:43:21 GMT
I had only one hard disk and have used up all 4 primary partitions: 2
for DOS and 2 for Linux. I have almost used up all the space I
originally allocated for Linux while there are still plenty of space
left under DOS, so I decide to delete some space from DOS and use it
for Linux.
The DOS part is no problem, since I have enough free space there. But
since I don't have much free space left under Linux, I can't move
stuff around. To copy every thing onto floppy disks first is a pain in
the neck, and I don't think I have that many floppies. I read the faq
again, and it metioned repartition without deleting the original the
original partition, but did not give any instruction as how to do it.
Could some Linuxpert please give me some instructions or provide me a
source where I find further details.
On a related note, if I have an extended partition with several
logical drives under Linux, should I mount the entire partition to one
file system or should I mount each logical drive to different file
system, or I can do it either way?
Thanks in advance for any help.
