From: samuel@telmar.uucp Subject: /bin/hostname -S won't set hostname Date: Sat, 12 Jun 1993 04:48:56 GMT
Installed .99.10, libc-4.4, net-2 last night. Built and booted (after fixing
netinet/in.h) but /bin/hostname -S in /etc/rc fails. Grabbing the net-2
hostname.c, I find that gethostbyname is returning a 2 (TRY_AGAIN,
according to netdb.h).
Well, without hostname, a lot of stuff fails. At least news and uucp still
are working.
The contents of my HOSTNAME file are:
telmar
The contents of my /etc/hosts file are:
192.0.3.128 telmar
192.0.3.0 network
127.0.0.1 localhost
I don't quit know enough about what gethostbyname is supposed to do here, but
any and all help is appreciated!
