True. What I think would be a more appropriate (and reasonable) idea
are the following:
comp.os.linux aliased to comp.os.linux.misc
comp.os.linux.bugs
comp.os.linux.announce
Both c.o.l.b and c.o.l.a would be moderated groups. c.o.l.b would
*ONLY* be used for the reporting of bugs, and the solutions to the bugs.
c.o.l.a should only be used to announce new versions of software, and to
announce ports of software to Linux. and c.o.l.m would simply be what
c.o.l is now--so that if you don't CARE for the flames, and
discussions--you don't have to read the group to get the "good stuff"..
like bug reports, bug fixes, and announcements for new software.
Also, having he bugs and announcement channels moderated helps cut down
on the "influx" of garbage that the Usenet is so infamous for.
That--and I suggest if you're not satisfied, create an alt.linux.*
group.
