Hi,
some days ago I installed the SLS base distribution, and tried to get
ghostscript working. I installed the appropriate X11 libs (X11lib.so.3
or something similar) and some time ago I've read, that one can run
ghostscript's screen previewer even without X11, if one selects
the DEVICE 'linux' via command line (gs -sDEVICE=linux xxx.ps).
But I've only got my screen scrambled. (I think, the monitor wasn't
capable of synchronizing the screen, it seems, as if ghostscript was
compiled to use a special VGA mode)
My questions: -) Is it possible to use the ghostscript preview in some
'standard' VGA mode (ie. 640x480x16) WITHOUT X11 ?
-) If YES, do I need some special command line switches
to select an appropriate graphics video mode ?
-) Does ghostscript use T.Frandsens VGALIB ?
-) Where can I get the patched ghostscript sources ?

PS: T.Frandsens VGALIB works fine. I'm using an AcuMos AVGA2 card / 512k.
