Subject: How to install LINUX SLS into a LOGICAL DOS 5 partition
Date: 1 Jun 1993 10:47:47 GMT

I am posting this via mail as my system is currently not receiving this
group. Please respond via email to the posting address. Thank you.

I have DOS 5.0 installed. I had OS/2 installed as well, and I got rid of
it. In its place (about 40-50 megs of disk space) I want to install
enough Linux so I can figure out how to get around as a Unix/Linux admin
(as opposed to the simple job of being a user).

I know that Linux will fit in 40-50 megs without X and other stuff.
However, the way my hardrive is currently paritioned may create some
difficulties I think.

I was using boot manager from OS/2, and now I want to use it for
DOS/Linux. So, as the paritions go I think I have two small _physical_
partitions and one large _physical_ one.

The one large on is split into three logical dos drives, and OS/2 was on
the first. It currently is an empty DOS partition (since not having one
changes the drive letters of the partitions I am using after that -
something I also want to avoid when Linux is in fact installed).

SO: I suppose my question should be -

Can Linux be installed using MSDOS filesystem INTO a logical dos
partition where other (in use) logical dos partitions lie after it
physically on disk? How?

Thanks.
