Subject: TCP/IP: hostname lookup error (with libc.so.4.3.3)...
Date: 1 Jun 1993 04:29:10 GMT

I'm running 0.99pl9 and I recently installed new libs
(libc.so.4.3.3) and now my networking programs (telnet, ftp, talk, etc...)
don't work... they stop with an "Host name lookup failure".
I haven't changed my TCP/IP setup.

I had a similar problem with the /etc/mtab file and df. Someone
informed me that the new lib is strict with the format of /etc/mtab....
could the same problem be happening with my /etc/hosts file?
What's the new correct format for /etc/hosts?
I have this:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx^Ihostname^Ialiases

where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP
^I is a tab
hostname is the full hostname & domain
and aliases is the hostname

Thanks,
Anthony
