Subject: AIC-SIRUS chipset ?
Date: Sat, 31 Jul 1993 23:02:46 GMT

Hello Linuxers,

I am tempting to upgrade my motherboard to a VL-bus one. I came across
a MB which has the AIC-SIRUS chipset (actually one VLSI chip, AR-810).
Is there anyone using a MB with this chip ?

The marketing blurs say that it has fast S/W transparent A20 gate and
reset logic, among other things. What this means?
Can this MB run Linux without any compatibility problems ?
(e.g. 16-bit DMA problem etc.). I have heard
that some chipsets do not allow caching above 16MB range.
I hope that this chip is not among them.

Any info would be appreciated. Please post here.
Thanks in advance for your time.
