Subject: Busmouse doesn't work
Date: Sat, 31 Jul 1993 14:36:34 GMT

I've just installed SLS 1.02 (which is Linux .99pl7, I believe, and Xfree
1.2). I can't get my (genuine!) Microsoft busmouse to work.
I've linked /dev/mouse to /dev/mousems, which ahs the correct major/minor
numbers. My line in Xconfig says: MicroSoft "/dev/mouse". The mouse works
fine when I boot MessyDOS and MSWindoze. Why doesn't it work?

BTW, another, possibly related question: When I start X using "startx" (as
recommended in the FAQ), I get a tic-tac-toe box in the lower right and
"xclock" in inverted text in the upper left. Since the mouse doesn't respond,
I have to reboot the system to get out. If I just use "xinit", I get an xterm
window that I can type "exit" in. Will a working mouse enable me to use
startx?
