hp laserjets look just as good (and the new 600dpi looks great..there
is a TeX dvi driver for it). However, there are several reasons you
might be better off with postscript (i recommend the hp lj4M @ $2000,
postscript with 35 std fonts, 6megs memory)
 1) some (lots?) documentation is distributed in ps format only.
 2) inclusion of graphics, etc from other sources becomes easy
    (possible?) with ps.

Summary: Postscript is worth the extra $500, if you can afford it.
