Subject: Can't telnet out from SLS boot disk!

Hi, due to a strange twist of fate, I was forced to test my network
and Linux with the SLS boot disk. While it boots up fine, when I do
something like, say, telnet 148.100.1.2 (Marist College) it just sits
there and says
Trying to connect to 148.100.1.2...
but doesn't.

Is there something that I need to set up?

BTW, I have a WD8003 in the machine, but on bootup it said a WD8013
Is that normal?
