Perhaps not, but you haven't told us what version of kernel you
are running, and therefore what version of networking code you
are running.
You also should supply the relevant sections from your
rc file, and a description of exactly what the problem
you are experiencing is. What leads you to believe there
is a problem with the kernels handling of your netmask ?
