Nope: I don't have access to the off-switch of that computer, and even
if I did, I would rather have lost all my files than screwed up the
couple of dozen other people using that computer.
A better solution was being fast with ctrl-c. Even so, I lost all of
my mail and a number of other things. Or rather, I would have, except
they got restored from a backup, so I didn't really lose more than
about one day's work. (The backups were from the previous night.)
BTW, this demonstrates why backups aren't a complete solution: they
can't restore files that have been created or modified since the
backup was made.
