Subject: emacs 19.16 and 8th bit

Hello!
I got emacs 19.16 and it works very fine but: How do I insert 8-bit chars
from Linux without quoting? I think it must be possible, because when
running emacs under X, I can enter 8-bit chars and they are displayed.
With the Linux console, they are displayd correct, but I can enter them
only with quoting.
I tried the eight-bit-patch from emacs 18.59 but it dosn't work with
19.16.
I use Linux 0.99.10 and the german-latin table.
Thanks
