You know, I keep hearing things like this, and in fact, almost went with
another UNIX because of this reputation, but I have yet to see any truth
behind it. Fact is, I haven't had a single flame for a post to this
newsgroup, even when I asked questions which I now feel were pretty dumb
questions. I have always gotten friendly, helpful responses.

In fact, I've just gotten one incredibly helpful response to a filesystem
problem I'm having from Linus himself. He gave me several things to check,
places to start looking for solutions in the kernel (i.e., one variable
that might just need adjusting, and suggested value to start with), etc.,
and with any luck, I'll have a more reliable filesystem (and perhaps more
reliable system in general, depending on where the problem actually sits),
and will then be able to post the results so others in similar situations
can benefit from them.

I don't know, maybe I'm doing something different when I post questions,
but I always get lots of friendly help, and no flames.
