From the FAQ (June 93):

I was told by a tech support person at Comtrade that the DTC 3292 was
Adaptec 1742 compatible. I ordered one based on this information
(perhaps foolishly, but that's beyond the scope of this post). Rereading
the FAQ in preparation for a first Linux install, I saw this.
Am I SOL if the DTC is my only SCSI controller? Or is this FAQ answer
misleading?
Hopefully, I can return the DTC controller for another if it is not
compatible. This will be the true test of Comtrade's customer-relations
policies. But I'd rather hear that this controller will work.
