Subject: Adaptec 154x vs. 152x: results

Thanks to all who replied to my original post. It appears that the
primary reason for the lack of a 152x driver is that since the 154x
(being a busmaster controller) has better performance in a multi-
tasking OS than the 152x (which is a polled controller) that no
one has found the need to write one. (I guess that the fact that
 a bare 152x card goes for ~ $75, whereas a bare 154x card goes
 for ~ $200, didn't amount to much.)

Although I'd be happy if someone wrote a 152x driver (hey, the more
the merrier), since I don't have the skill required I'll probably
cough up the bucks for a 1540C.

(Request for non-Linux-specific info to be sent via Email: anyone
in-the-know know the difference between the 1540B and the 1540C?
For that matter, whether the 152x and 154x are SCSI-I or SCSI-II?
 I'm pretty SCSI ignorant.)

 Thanks again,
 -Ivan Yanasak
