Subject: ARP: Non-IP request on device "eth0" !
Date: Fri, 9 Jul 1993 17:33:27 GMT

I finally got NET-2 to work after enabling memory on my 3C503 and editting the
Makefile to use $(EL2_OPTS) from the CONFIG file. However, my network
connection is not very stable and quits after a few minutes. I've been able
to ftp to another machine and get files OK. I can telnet to other machines
and the DNS connection seems to work since I used names, not IP numbers, and
I haven't defined the names anywhere on my system.

Within a couple of minutes of rebooting, however, my network goes dead and
any further attempt to ping or telnet, even with IP numbers, gives the message:
"network unreachable". In addition, I continually get the message:

ARP: Non-IP request on device "eth0" !

What is causing the "ARP" message and is/could it be related to my bad network
connection? What would be causing my network to go down so easily? Any ideas
on where to look?

Sys Config:
 SLS 1.02 -> 0.99-10, NET-2
 3c503, IRQ 5, i/o 300, mem D800
 386-33, 387, 8Mram
 ext2fs on 202meg IDE
