A while ago I put a precompiled mke2fs 0.3 on sunsite.
But I was clueless and it's got one bogus file so I didn't announce it.
(Gotta tell Eric someday...)
If you have trouble installing SLS 1.02 with big ext2fs filesystems,
grab /pub/Linux/system/Filesystems/e2fbin03.tgz from sunsite.unc.edu.
(Note the groovy DOS-compatible file name.)
Stick it on your a2 disk. Boot a1.
Unpack e2fbin03 manually like this and discard the bogus mke2fs.8.
  mkdir /3; mount -rt msdos /dev/fd0 /3
  gzip -dc < /3/e2fbin03.tgz | tar xvf -
  rm e2fsprogs-0.3/mke2fs.8
Make your filesystems on HD with e2fsprogs-0.3/mke2fs, not with a1's
plain mke2fs. The 0.3 version has various unpleasant bugs fixed.

Then proceed with your install. When you're done with the C disks
you'll be able to compile e2fsprogs-0.3 (same sunsite directory)
for yourself.
