It appears I now have Linux (0.99pl10) able to do SLIP
connects at least most of the time.

A problem, though ...

I can establish the SLIP connection, but how do I break it?
How do I terminate the connection and hang up the phone?

Only way I've been able to do it so far is to reboot.

I have gone through all my FAQs. about three weeks' worth of
c.o.l., and the man pages for dip and ifconfig and can't
find this discussed anywhere.

Thanks in advance for any pointers ...
