If someone will give me a list of these functions I'll volunteer to chase down
free alternatives. From memory we can swap gdbm with sdbm, termcap with the
Fred Fish termcap (I'm sure thats not GPL -I'd have to check). I've seen
at least one circa 1984 free regex somewhere (not a superb one but fixable),
ditto for other things.
We've got berkeley yacc/lex for bison problems so an LGPL only system should
not be hard.
Once it appears done maybe someone can get an FSF bod to verify it contains
no GPL code.
