I don't know if it is related or not, but I was talking to my vendor
last week about scsi controllers and he told me that they had stopped
using the Ultrastor 34F for a while because they had problems with
disk corruption. They switched to the BusLogic 445S for a while.
They said that Ultrastor now has a new ROM for the board that fixes
the problems and they are using it again. The new ROM has the number
28008-006 on it. The buggy version is -005. You might check with
your vendor or Ultrastor to find out about getting a ROM upgrade to
see if it solves the problems.
I ran PC Mag's disk benchmarks and the BusLogic seems to be the faster
board. I haven't brought Linux up on that machine yet, but in theory
it should be no problem since the BL is supposed to look exactly like
the Adaptec. Anyone else running the BL445S with Linux?
