Subject: [linux reorg] 30-day discussion period ends
Date: 3 Jul 1993 07:56:14 GMT

According to Dave Lawrence's article on the status of current newsgroup
proposals, the RFD for comp.os.linux was posted June 3. So, 30 days have
passed and the discussion period has ended.

I've read all the responses to the 1st and 2nd drafts of the CFV. While
there are some people who would like some more things changed, it does
appear that we have solved all the major issues and are as close to "ready"
as any major newsgroup reorganization is likely to get.

There were no more changes after the 2nd draft of the CFV.

I will mail the official CFV to Dave Lawrence (a.k.a. "net.god", moderator of
news.announce.newgroups) after posting this article. It will contain the
following newsgroups:

==============================================================================
                  *** NOTE: VOTING HAS NOT STARTED YET ***

comp.os.linux.admin
    Discussion of Linux-specific issues with installation and system
    administration

comp.os.linux.development
    Discussion of Linux development including kernel, library, gcc,
    networking, porting, and other related issues

comp.os.linux.help
    Discussion of Linux-specific questions and advice

comp.os.linux.misc
    (This newsgroup renames the existing comp.os.linux newsgroup)
    Discussion of Linux-specific topics which do not fit in the other
    comp.os.linux.* newsgroups.

                  *** NOTE: VOTING HAS NOT STARTED YET ***
==============================================================================

     *** PLEASE DO NOT SEND A VOTE UNTIL THE OFFICIAL CFV IS POSTED ***

It will take a few days. The moderator will probably not look at it before
Monday and then it usually takes a few more days to process. Be patient -
voting will probably begin by Friday.
