I recently decided to upgrade to the 0.99pl10 kernel. Unfortunately,
this caused all of my networking software to quit working! :-) Sooo,
I rebooted under the 0.99pl9 kernel, and ftp'ed the NET-2 software,
and installed it per the Linux NET-2 FAQ that was posted yesterday.

NFS mounts work, so I know the network is accessible. Unfortunately, that
is about it. I cannot telnet, ftp, ping, or anything else. If I do,
I get messages such as:

    telnet: tcp/telnet: unkown service
    ftp: ftp/tcp: unknown service
    ping: unknown protocol icmp.

Any suggestions? Do I need to get new TCP/IP clients to use the NET-2 code
built into the latest kernel? Or do I just have something setup wrong?

I personally do NOT like having to use a full hostname, i.e. "hostname.domain".
Makes my prompt rather long! ;-) Unfortunately, it looks as if this new
NET-010 distribution uses hostname to set the domainname as well, and that
the domainname command no longer works. Am I right, or is there something
I am not getting?

Thanks!
