Subject: >16Mb Ram ?

      I installed linux on a 486/33 DX, 20Meg RAM, 220Meg HD, 256 Kb cache
      memory, AMI bios.

      I installed SLS v. 1.0 and the 099pl10 kernel version.

      Problems:

          I recompiled the kernel with the >16Mb RAM option, but
          the machine does not work. A few examples below:

          - the performances were about a half of the <=16Mb kernel version;
          - X hangs immediatly;
          - fsck reboots the machine.

          Turning off the cache memory feature makes all working
          very very slow (about 1/10 of the original kernel).

      Is there any way to use all the available memory under linux ?
