fdisk /mbr (from DOS :-)) Should nuke lilo...

This cleans up the master boot record, but keeps the partition information.
I Had a problem when LILO became corrupted (somehow) and the above command
cleaned the MBR to sane values.

(You've probably had a million messages of the same ilk, but hope I could help)
