humm,... related, but not the same, I am attempting to network several
printers but am having little success
I flung strace across lpc to see what was happening and I found that It
attemps to use /dev/printer (see listing)
write(1, "\tno daemon to abort\n", 20) = 20
write(1, "ti:\n", 4) = 4
socket(PF_UNIX, STREAM, 0) = 4
connect(4, AF_UNIX(/dev/printer), 14) = -1 (Invalid argument)
write(1, "lpc: connect: Invalid argument\n", 31) = 31
close(4) = 0
write(1, "\tcouldn't start daemon\n", 23) = 23
write(1, "lpc> ", 5) = 5
I take it then that the SLS version of lpq/lpr/lpd...etc... doesn't support
networking, or am I being nieve about something?
also what exactly are the permissions of /dev/printer? (major/minor as well)
Phil
