Subject: MICROSOFT BUSMOUSE PROBLEMS WITH SLS
Date: 30 Jan 1993 04:40:25 GMT

I have seen a lot of posts about problems with starting X with Microsoft
BUSMOUSE but no solutions so far.( I mean with SLS distribution).
My SLS kit seems to be giving the same trouble. X starts up, and an xclock icon comes but no input is taken from the mouse or the keyboard .
Eventually I have to kill the Server with cntrl-alt-bksp.
The Xconfig looks like :

Busmouse "/dev/mouse"

where /dev/mouse is a link to one of the mouse special files.
In this case I made trials with bmousems, bmouseps2, ps2aux but to no avail.
Another option I tried was to use mknod and make these special files with
the major and minor numbers still of no use.

Note though that SLS linux on boot gives the message :
PS/2 type pointing device detected and installed .
One more thing if I have Busmouse "/dev/bmousems" in my Xconfig
X gives an error and crashes as :
        Could not open mouse
        Core devices not initialized.
The mouse works fine under DOS .So I guess there is no problem with the
hardware.

Would appreciate any help or pointers . Did anyone else also have the same
problem ?
