I was able to reconstruct my linux partition after a show-down between
NT and my hard drive (NT won the first battle [erased my hard drive]
but I won the second [erased NT...] :)... So I was able to save my
settings that produce a good, flicker-free (to my eyes...) 1024x768 screen.
After playing around the 'trial and error' method for a few days, I
sat down and did the work the way the docs say to. Took about 20
minutes (I'm slow). All it took was the clock values and the Sony
monitor manual.
Here's my values:
"1024x768" 64 1024 1088 1152 1328 768 771 775 803
"1024x768i" 44 1024 1064 1224 1264 768 777 785 817 Interlace
"800x600" 36 800 816 928 1024 600 607 621 628
"640x480" 25 640 656 752 800 480 491 493 525
28 640 672 768 800 480 490 492 525
These all work for me on an ET4000 (ProDesigner II) and Sony 1304c.
