From: andreas@miro.nlp.physik.th-darmstadt.de (Andreas Billo) Subject: cannot mount /dev/had9 Date: 29 Jan 1993 13:00:33 GMT
-- Hello Linuxers,I am posting this for a friend, who is just trying to install the SLS package V0.99pl2-55. He has a 486-33DX, 8MByte, WD 340MByte. We partioned the hard disk as follows 100 MByte for DOS and the rest for linux
With /fdisk the linux part is as below Device Boot Begin Start End Blocks ID System /dev/hda1 * 1 1 311 102602+ 6 DOS /dev/hda2 312 312 1009 230340 5 Extended /dev/hda5 312 312 336 8249+ 82 Linux swap /dev/hda6 337 337 492 51479+ 81 Linux Minix /dev/hda7 493 493 669 58409+ 81 Linux Minix /dev/hda8 670 670 846 58409+ 81 Linux Minix /dev/hda9 847 847 1009 53789+ 81 Linux Minix
The fstab looks like /dev/hda6 / minix defaults /dev/hda7 /usr/X386 minix defaults /dev/hda8 /home minix defaults /dev/hda9 /start minix defaults /dev/hda5 none swap defaults
During the startup we get the error message
/dev/hda7 on /usr/X386 type minix (defaults) /dev/hda8 on /home type minix (defaults)
mount: unknown error 26240
Adding swap 8244k swap space /etc/inet/rc.net: softland ......
The directory /start exists ! Why can't linux mount /dev/hda9 on /start ????
Ciao
Andreas & Janusz
