Hi, I am sorry not to have an answer to that problem, but I can tell
you, that you're not the only one having that problem.
In fact, on my system, the serial i/o ttyS0 doesn't work at all.
Whenever you try to use it, like copying a file into that device, the
whole system crashes. That won't happen with ttyS2 or '3, although
these ports dont't even exist.
My system is an old '486 with 25 MHz Clock and AMI-Bios, the portcard
is no-name with 16450-Chip. I certainly did recompile the cernel as
well, but without effect.
Under MS-Windows both COM-ports work fine, so the hardware is probably
ok.
