Subject: X-Progs dump core / floppy problems
Date: Fri, 29 Jan 1993 09:45:24 GMT

Hello !

1.) I have problems with running several programs under X, especially xdvi,
xantfarm and xcalendar (and some other). Xdvi causes a floating point
exception and dumps core, the other just dump core. I posted this some time
ago, and I was advised to use the latest versions of gcc, xlib and the
sharelibs. Well, I did so, but it still doesnt work. I use LINUX 0.99 with
    libs4.2 and gcc2.3.3 on a Intel 486/33 machine. My X-Server is X386.S3-0.3
on a noname 86C911-S3 card. Has anyone a solution for my problem ?

2.) I have problems with my 1,44-Floppy under Linux. I stored several packages
on it (zipped) and tested them after storing them on disk with unzip -t,
which said they would be ok. When I tried to restore them after some time
I got about four disk who gave me CRC-errors and were unable to read the
data properly. Thos even occured with my 0.98 rootdisk which I had been
using without problems for about 1 month. I never had problems with
floppys using DOS. I formatted those disks under DOS and made an mkfs
/dev/fd0 1440. Does anyone know what causes that problem ?

      Thanks to all,
           Chandra
