Just a note about what I've found out since I posted that last message:

The latest procps suite (uploaded just this week, for that matter)
includes a version of free, the output of which conforms to waht you
get under SunOS 4.1, &c--that is to say BSD format, yes?

I still do not know what version was included in the first 99.2 SLS
release (what I have, that is), nor do I know if a newer version of
uptime(1) is included in the current SLS distrib (ie., the .tpz
version).

If you do not get output from uptime(1) that looks like:

  5:08am up 3 days, 18 hrs, 44 users, load average: 0.34, 0.33, 0.16

then do be sure to upgrade to the current procps suite.

Enjoy,
