Subject: 0.99pl3 weird keyboard behaviour under normal console
Date: Thu, 21 Jan 1993 02:17:52 GMT

Hello linux folx,

A couple days ago, I compiled linux 0.99pl3 -- works great, except for
one thing, and that's only a minor annoyance. It seems as though the keyboard
is mapped wrong in generic console text mode. For example, I hit '/' on my
keyboard and I get a '-'. Or I hit "*" and I get a ")". You get the idea.
My first thought was that I had forgotten to define the right keyboard type
in the kernel Makefile, but I checked it (and recompiled the kernel, just to
be sure) and still had the problem. The keypad versions of these keys (it only
seems to be a few keys, like the math keys, parenthesis, etc -- shifted number
keys) work fine, and the entire keyboard behaves as expected under X/Windows.
Has anybody got any idea what's wrong here? Thanks for any help...

Joe
