Well, my SLS4 out of the box did the EXACT same thing. For me, the answer was to
recompile the system with the paramater HAVE_SIGHANDLE set to 0. It seems that the
shared libraries distributed with SLS4 (4.1 libs) don't handle the signals correcltly.
Since I've recompiled, my problem has gone away. I don't use SMTP though, but my
guess is this is the problem.
BTW - It only happened to me when I attempted to mail off-site.
