I've progressed to the point that I'd like to attach my printer to
my Linux box, and I've come across a problem, where to come up with
a printcap entry for a LJ-II, the default one that came with my SLS
version was for a Panasonic as I recall. I can send plain text to
the printer with cat, so the channel is open, but I was attempting
to figure out how to use LaTex to print out some documents, no manual
page, and no readable documentation for it, how does a body get "kick-
started" with LaTex? I don't see much in any of the FAQ's about
printing with Linux in general, or LaTex in particular. How much of
the 10 megabytes of LaTex do I really need just to print documents?
I did notice that there is no spooler capability now, other than the
fact that you could have conflicting jobs, what effect does that have,
it seems I could just print from a different virtual console, no?
I have a foot high stack of Unix books of various flavors, very little
is mentioned about the printcap entries, is this a "black art" like
the termcap entries? :-)
