Frequently, 3.5 and 4.25 inch drives have different connectors on the cable to
the floppy controller these days. This was the case in my machine, so I just
took the cable out, took the connectors off and "moved" the twist in the cable
by simply twisting the appropriate leads at the middle connector and un-
twisting it at the end connector. The flat ribbon cable connectors re-crimp
just fine if you are careful and you can save a whole lot of time and a little
money by not ordering a new custom cable.
OK, so it's a kludge, but it beats having to wait a week to install Linux
(drooling) while your cable is in the mail.
