Subject: CMU's Andrew multimedia System on Linux ??
Date: Sun, 10 Jan 1993 07:40:17 GMT

CMU's Andrew System ( not the AFS) is a great multimedia System under X11.
There is a multimedia editor called 'ez', which you can put
text(variable fonts), pictures, animation, sound and math formulas, etc in a
single file. It also has libraries to help programmers write their own system.
It would be a great job to port such system to Linux.
(including Sound Blaster card support, if possible)

Is anyone doing this great job ? I don't have enough disk space to do it.
For those insterested in Andrew Sys, you can get it from anonymous ftp

     emsworth.andrew.cmu.edu

with ready-to-run binaries on SunOS 4.1.1(Sun4), AIX 3.1, hp700_80, pmax_ul4

in /cdrom (Sun's tar file size is 23599143)
