Hello all linuxers,

Would any wise guy to summarize what should be done (in steps) to get
gcc 2.3.3 & libc.so.4.2 installed? I saw numerous articles about this
tough exercise! But I (and possibly many others) am still not brave
and confident enough to jump into this new world, especially the story
of cannot login if some steps are missing!

Would you mind to tell what binaries will not work anymore if I install
libc.so.4.2 and if possible what's the remedy? I know, I can grap the
source code and recompile, but I don't have the space to get every
source code in /bin, /usr/bin, /etc and it shouldn't like this, right?
I can do some recompile, just like to know in advance what should I
expect to do in order to use the new compiler and library.

I heard about using emacs to edit binary files, is it the only method?
I feel very uneasy in using a text editor to change bits and bytes in
binaries! But if it has to be, would you mind to give instructions
clearly about what steps should be done?

Okay, I'm using SLS with a self compiled 0.99pl2 kernel and thanks
Peter for your work with SLS. Will you put gcc 2.3.3 and lib 4.2 into
SLS shortly?
