I have posted to this group several times already. There is a word
processor called "doc" that works very nicely under Linux (as does the whole
InterViews package). When Linux 1.0 is out I will upload a new set of binaries
with a few bug fixes. For now there is a working binary package for doc on
sunsite in /pub/Linux/Incoming as IVdoc.3.1.tar.Z.
"doc" is a WYSIWYG document preparation system, that uses TeX algorithms,
saves data in a LaTeX format, is able to import postscript graphics, and
outputs in postscript format which you can send directly to your postscript
printer or use ghostscript ( I use ghostscript ).
Also, for a spreadsheet, use xspread. It's not as fancy as excel, but its
a decent spreadsheet for windows, most people would be satisfied with.
"doc" works best with a math chip and the extfs, with the extfs being
required primarily because of postscript font names, and of course X.
Happy Linuxing!!! Michael Caro.
