Subject: Pentium P5 (586) vs. i486 upgradable socket?
Date: Thu, 7 Jan 1993 16:59:48 GMT

just a quick questions.. rumor has it that the P5 is going to be a
100 MIPS machine... and most highend 486's are about 20 MIPS.

does anyone know if the upgrade socket on i486's allows you
to stick in a P5 or something of that nature?

I have heard (again hearsay) that is there is a chip in the
upgrade slot the orginal Cpu is bypassed.

if anyone knows... please straighten me out.

just to know if I can upgrade if a decide to go with a 486 and not wait
for the P5 whick might not be supported by Linux anytime soon.
